Direct to Garment
DIRECT TO GARMENT PRINTING is a fairly new process that involves the transfer of an image using water based ink onto various apparel.* This method of printing opens up possibilites in terms of design because it does not require a limit to the amount of colors used. Screen printing is limited to a maximum of six different screens to set up and print, the Direct to Garment printer applies the artwork, you guessed it, directly to the shirt.
To ensure that you get the best quality product, please consider these guidelines when submitting an order to be screen printed:
- Vector and high resolution raster artwork is preferred for best results.
- Your design should be no bigger than 12”w x 16”h for full front and back designs for adult sizes.
- For smaller artwork to go on left chest, we ask that the artwork be no bigger than 4”w x 4”h
*100% ringspun cotton shirts are the highest recommended t-shirt blend to use when printing using the direct to garment method.
**In some instances, shirts printed using this method might come out with a “shadowbox” around the artwork. This is the pretreat chemical used in the printing process (this chemical allows the ink to be absorbed into the fiber cottons of the shirt). Don’t panic: they come out after a dip in the washing machine.
